Why Sales?
Sales is a part of our daily lives without us even knowing. Anytime we try to convince our friends to go see a new movie, introduce ourselves at a job interview, or try to influence our parents to make a different decision, we are selling something. Learning how to sell professionally allows us to properly present our ideas, skills, products, etc. in every area of our lives. Sales also requires learning, failing, and stepping outside of our comfort zone to reach our goals and accomplish our dreams. Professional sales teaches leadership and empathy through different experiences which challenge our mindset and the status quo. Salespeople are people who aren’t necessarily in sales, but they are people who are constantly taking action to achieve their own personal quotas using the different sales processes. Sales isn’t about the right thing to say to get a sale, it’s about saying it the right way so that you can build long-lasting relationships. And since every job is a sales job, then selling is an essential skill, in not just the workforce, but in life.
I am pursuing a career in marketing because it is the perfect combination of relationship building and creativity that has always interested me, but a big portion of marketing is sales. So, I decided to apply to the Professional Selling Program to learn how to sell my ideas, my projects, and my services to differentiate myself from others.
